First attempt at a "Magic Wand". Think my grandson will enjoy it. The shaft is an oak dowel from that orange store and the handle is walnut

She gave me a jet 1642. It's a big upgrade from my jet 1015. Yeah for not having to move belts all the time!!!
It's my birthanvvalxmas gift for the next few years!!!

Why else would us grandparents want a lathe :)
Great job - I'm sure he will be proud of that wand.

Made one when Harry Potter first came out (and my kids were much younger)...Birch dowel from the big-box store and a walnut handle. Thanks for the reminder (it made me smile).

For the next one, I'd go with a more rounded tip out of an abundance of caution and for probably better durability (since young'ns no doubt will play a wee bit rough with it at some point).

Fun, well done! That will be a fond memory for both of you. Also reminds me of making wands for my four kids when Harry Potter came out. They ran around the house having wand duels. Thankfully I forgot to include the Phoenix feather... ;)
