All look great. I like the shape of the elongated houses. The ones I've made were mostly short and stubby. What wood is the second one?

The cap is Eucalyptus burl, the body is.... uh... pretty, streaked brown wood??

Others may know?

Wonderful birdhouses! Great shapes and finish and the woods are gorgeous, with lots of character. Like the holes, knots and interesting figures on the woods. Great work!

An Aussie Bird House in Progress

Short attention span, so I diverted from pens this week...

Last XMas I ordered some specific woods from George (Robutacion). 2" x 2" x6" to continue my bird houses. I did not care what wood - just to have plenty of inclusions! I like wood with eyes, holes, etc...

This blank made 2 , 3" sections for basic Bird houses. It was a great joy when a piece of bark chipped off revealing the awesome grain underneath for a branch side! Cool texture

GEORGE: This was EXACTLY what I wanted!!!

The piece is wider than I hoped, but I didn't want to cut more wood away and waste the cool texture. I probably should have left the 6" section complete and make 1 piece (learn...). But I love the grain.

I believe George labeled this timber: Platypus Gum... Poor Platypus!

I have turned 3 bottom finials and don't like any! I think I will use an Eucalypyus Blank for the top (from a CSUSA order in 2012 - before I got to George's site!!)

A work in progress.

HOWEVER... THANK YOU GEORGE! The next few months will be fun getting my birdhouses set for Thanksgiving.
