Maple plate

Being a pen turner I have lots of resin blanks. Here's a 10" maple plate with pieces of resin pen blanks inset into the rim.

That's a great use of left over blanks.
Does the blank go all the way through the rim of the plate?

Well, I for one am not beyond 'borrowing' this idea.....
After all, I know this great woman that loves pouring PR swirlies!!!! And I might even get a few from BSea too?!?!?!?
