After a few requests for one of these, I got to work. I used the prettiest pieces of quilted red oak I have ever seen in 1/2" thickness and box joints for strength and appearance. The box measures 16" wide, 12" tall and 6" thick. It holds 45 large Salas jigs for yoyo jigging or surface action. My spidey sense says it weighs between 20-25 loaded with jigs.

I like the large pictures, I can see the detail. I don't know why but I have problems enlarging other pictures.

You should be able to reduce the thickness to 3/8" and have enough strength.

Sorry, after the rude changes at Photobucket I decided to try another host. No offense ever intended from my end, stuff happens.

I like to make things using wood and I also like to share. Visit Tehachapi and I'll share more.

About the wood...

When I checked out I had highly figured white oak for a new coffee table, this very highly figured and somewhat rare quilted red oak wood and several other great pieces. It was a glorious shopping experience at Austin Hardwood and Hardware in Santa Ana, some 200 miles from my home. They are very good to me there.

Sanding sealer brings out that quilted figure.

One coat of sanding sealer before sanding and golden oak stain. Five to six coats of wipe on spar varnish and I can re-install the stainless steel hardware and ship it.
