That is one sweet tackle box Mark! Way too nice to get near water...especially salt water.
Would make a great pen turners tool box....bushings, kits, blank storage, etc and chisels stand in the rod holders!

Beautiful work and finish! I'm a pushover for bold grain patterns and this has it. Yes, what finish did you use? Personally, I would keep it for looks and get a plastic tacklebox at the big box store. Wouldn't want it damaged in any way.

Finish

Mark, it's a beautiful tackle box, could you please let me know what you used for a finishing material?
Len

The buyer requested a satin finish so he got it. System Three makes a satin spar varnish for about $40 per quart via Amazon. I dilute the product 4:1 using mineral spirits and store it a plastic stop loss bag. I used sanding sealer first and sanded that smooth. There are five thin coats of "wipe on" spar varnish with sanding in between each coat using 1000 grit. At the end I rub the whole box with an old section of brown paper bag to remove the nibs. It will arrive in Colorado late next week. I hope he is pleased.

I have 26 big tackle boxes in use now and all of them get fished on the ocean usually on long 8-17 day trips. I provide care instructions to keep the box as new looking as possible. Several made in 2004 have needed sanding with 400 grit and two coats new spar varnish, that makes them minty fresh again.
