I have a client who asked for a large bowl 14"-16". Blanks that size are not so easy to find and can be pricey. I had never tried segmented turning before so thought this would be a good time to try. I went for 8 segments to keep things simple. With a bowl this size the flattening issues were a bit more of a PITA than with a smaller turning but I got it done and glued up OK. to do more complex segmented projects I know I will need to figure out a reliable way to true up the segment joints before glue up.

I am pretty happy with this end result and so is the client which is what matters.

That's looks really good!
I just got a Nova Chuck this week and eventually want to try my hand at bowls (small ones) and other stuff like that. Would you mind sharing a pic of the glue up if you have it? Was that a solid piece after you segmented or did you add the segments just on the outside so it's less material to carve away?
