I received a log of spalted maple from an IAP member a while back... I was kind of foaming at the mouth to make something out of it. This past weekend I finally cut it up and while doing so a buddy of mine stopped by and thought it would make a great shave set. And as luck would have it I had a kit just sitting there....this is what I came up with. C&C WELCOME!!!

That's really a nice set. I've always wondered how shaving kits hold up to use being around so much water.

I have wondered the same thing myself. I don't use a shave set or even shave that much to begin with so I can't speak to that. I did some research on it and everything I've read point to wood treatment (stabilizing) and finish. So I really took my time with the stabilizing process. I put twice as many coats of finish on as I usually do for pens. Time will tell I guess...I tell all my clients to let me know how everything holds up and offer to refinish at no charge if there is an issue
