Hi All,

A couple of my latest bowls turned from Elm Burr.

They are not that big, but I tried a different finish on each.

Modern bowl was given sanding sealer, then BLO and beeswax finish. Round bowl was given two coats of sanding sealer, a light coat of BLO and buffed with a crystalline wax polish.

Hey, y'all, uh, I don't want to be the wet blanket, but, uh, they're both round...

And both really nice.

I like the spherical one. Did you use some specific kind of tool for the inside of the hollow form?

Hi Julia,

Thanks for the comments.

I used a bowl gouge to make the initial cuts into the bowl and then finished the sides using a round nosed scraper.

I dont have any specific tools for making a hollow form which is why I stay within certain boundries, and dont make anything with too narrow an opening, or too severe angles inside.

But I need to invest in some good hollowing tools.[}:)][:p] (More Money)

MODERN BOWL is a reference to the contemperary shape of the second bowl!![:)]

If the Burls are well seasoned, they turned very well. I work in Elm Burr frequently, and find it very easy to work with.[:D]
