Dad's Day gifts

A couple of desk sets I turned for my dad and the wife's dad.

This one is in Mahogony. My father-in-law, the recipient, gave me some mahogony boards that his father had brought home when he worked at the Lockport Casket Factory. We estimate that the mahogony has been lying around for around 40+ years.

This set is for my dad in African Blackwood.

Pictures are so-so. Just bought a new camera and these are the first posts with it.

Amen... who wouldn't like a gift like that? Especially if you have a connection to the wood it's made of... and there's a nice meal preceding it of course!!! []

Kenny, the finish on both set is the "Standard" CA/BLO finish. With the Mahogony, I first sealed the wood with Myland celulose sanding sealer, and a coat of thin CA. The Mahogony was pretty soft compared to the AB.
