Howdy all,

Here are some Christmas ornaments that I did as gifts this year using finials and resin cast blanks from bangleguy.com.

Thank you for posting! I just looked at the "Bangleguy.com" website... Next holiday season will be much easier.

Do you need/have to hollow these out to reduce the weight?

I was thinking about doing some casting here, but was worried about not knowing whether or not to hollow or whatnot.... The timber/resin combos look great!

Thanks for the comments, folks!

Scott, the ornaments have a 3/4" hole all the way through and that is as hollow as I made them. We and the folks we gave them to have artificial trees so weight wasn't an issue. On a real tree, you couldn't put them on a flimsy branch but with a more sturdy branch I don't think you would have a problem.

So did you metal turn the finials? Or are they something you can buy?

Nevermind just went to Bangleguy.com and saw them.. I didn't know they were doing that now and it had been a while since I had visited the site.
