Just before dropping Wifey off out the airport for her to go to England for 7 days on a business trip... "Hey, can you make anything else other than pens with that lathe...?"

"Gosh Honey, I don't think so. But let's see what I can come up with :wink::wink::wink: "

First thought:

"Welcome back Honey... Guess what! We have a new blender! I just flipped the Nova on it's side, chucked up your beater, and I'll make you a Mango Smoothie with 5 lbs of fiber (oh, you want one of my new Mango Pens, they're really sweet)."

So... A challenge has been issued!

Day One's project.

A Finial Lidded Box. Redheart (old wood - 2 yrs old, so the red is starting to fade. Finial from a different blank, so not the best match.

Hummm, you are funny bugger, aren't you...!

I don't know about that special blander combination you come up with but, I can agree that, that first red piece is very beautiful and that it seems that, you are getting in other turnings other than pens, and that is good, makes a better use of all the tools you have and keeps the wood stock "moving" sometimes a little too fast but that, you will sort out, no doubt..!

Congrats on those pieces, they look pretty good from where I stand...!

Cheers
George

Day #4

This is only about 3" high. A leftover piece from a mini birdhouse project last fall. Did a small one as I wanted to finish a pen also (getting itchy without a new pen).

Really nice!! Nice turning; an inspiration to us all.
And I have to paint!!
Turning a new paint brush is not very motivational.
But, did you move the lathe into the kitchen and try it as a blender!?!?
A great idea.
