Default Catenary Curve

I made this bowl for a challenge which required that you make a natural edge bowl with a catenary curve shape. A catenary curve is the shape that a hanging chain naturally makes. I made the bowl extra deep to accentuate the curve and added carved feet to carry the curve through the bottom. Maple, 8.5 diameter and 7 tall.

Beautiful piece! Sometimes a piece of wood just screams to be a natural edge bowl. That is one of those cases.

Great work, great curve, and I learned something: catenary curve!

I could have learned that back in high school but my mind is still clogged with Japanese!
