Can a box be round?

Or maybe a lidded bowl?

I made this from Meganite solid surface.
These were scraps headed for the recycle hopper, so I decided to try to repurpose them.
The lid is adorned with a shell and a rope border.

The second photo has a quarter for scale.

I had a fun time making this, and thanks to my neighbor for allowing me to use his lathe.

Hey John - that's an excellent little lidded box! The shell and rope are great. Does the meganite come in that thickness or did you have to bond a couple plys?

It's the standard 1/2" thickness, so there are four layers plus one for the lid.

Am I guessing correct that this material is similar to Corian since it is a solid surface material?

Yes sir. It's just another name brand. There are many names that solid surface is sold under, but it is all pretty similar, not necessarily the same.
This stuff streams off in ribbons when it's being turned.
