Here's a design gone wrong. I tried to make the top into the shape of a flame, so that it would look like a torch, but figured out that the flame has to be asymetrical to work. Oh well, it isn't too bad. I have a buyer for stoppers and pens now, when I get some built up. I'll have to mark this one down.

Thanks for looking. Suggestions are welcome, especially concerning the shape.

Rob, sell it to Dairy Queen! [:D]

Seriously, it is a good shape that displays the wood well.

BTW, I FINALLY got back to my Koa knife. I'll try to get a pix before the weekend.

William,
Thanks. I precut the blank too short for flame. I wanted a large area, to show the curl. I should have thought it through more, before turning. I usually just play it by ear. See what shape emerges. What develops is always different, from what I've done in the past.

I can't wait to see your knife. I still haven't started mine yet.

Rob, I like the idea. Nice piece of wood too. What do you think it would look like if your cut the top with a band saw in a "S" shape. Or even a scroll saw for tighter curves. Then attach the block to the lathe and cut the basic shape. I am not good at visualizing, but it might work.
