Here is a NE bowl I did but in the process of turning the bark flew off. So I just dyed the edge with india ink. Normally I burn them but decided to see how this would look. It is 8 1/2" at the widest and 2" deep at the shallowest part. It is finished with lacquer.

I use a donut chuck to reverse most bowls. To keep the edge up I use a PVC adapter (2 1/2" to 4") to hold the bowl edge up. When I put the bowl in the donut chuck I put the PVC with a mouse pad glued on the 4" end so it doesn't mark up the bowl. I put it on the inside of the bowl to hold it so the edges don't hit the donut chuck. Once clamped in the chuck I bring up the tailstock and put it in the mark it made while turning so it will be centered. Then I clamp it down tight and finish the bottom.
