These are fun to make! I get a high amount of satisfaction without a whole lot of effort which is fine by me. They don't take a lot of time so making one after work is a nice way to get some lathe time in. My oldest daughter played the kid card and nabbed it as soon as I showed it on my FB page. She loves sunrise/sunset colors, and I was thrilled she wanted it. Turning these like bottlestoppers works well, the only difference is finishing the top after drilling the hole while it's still in the chuck. This one had a little circle on the top from the threaded mandrel but it easily buffed out on the wheels with some blue rouge.
