Here's the second attempt.Used more resin this time so I could chuck it to finished shape.A cup of resin this time,I might need to find smaller pinecones.

Cones of pine trees come in all sizes -- smaller ones are from "jack pine" in north-central states (Minnesota), Lodge Pole pine the west and Shore Pine (pinus contorta) in the west coast of north american up into Alaska.

There are some really big ones too -- the 2 gallon of resin kind.

Tim, that's a good idea,I'll have to try and remember that for the extravaganza.

Frodo,lots of cones here too,just a walk in the park.

Ken,thanks for the pinecone lesson.A pinecone is a pinecone to me.Gonna have to try for the 1 1/2" range to allow for a decent wall thickness at 2" round in the future.
