Here is a wonderful three wing lidded, high speed turning. I would like to take credit for the turning but cannot. It was turned by woodturner, Mile Sorge.
I did add the fractal burning embellishment on the wings
and the finish which is Ty Oil.

Wonderful collaboration! The turning is excellent as is the fractal.

I attended a rectangular platter turning - about 10" wide by 24" long, 3" thick to start. Looked and sounded like an airplane propeller.

Well, now you will need to check this off your list soon! Have FUN!

I attended a seminar by Mike Sorge. When he cranks that lathe up, I ducked, and I was sitting 30 feet away! Sounds like a plane taking off!

Yup, the first time Mike came to our club for a demo, same thing....airplane!
Definitely had everyone's attention!

I think that fractal stuff is cool. Scares the hell out of me though. I would like to see some pens done with it though.

Hey Curt, This embellishment technique is catching on! There are many videos out there now. Just remember, it is electricity and respect for it and common sense are key.
Note: There are a couple of videos online in which the guy states that
"You must be grounded"........WRONG!!! You must be Isolated from Ground.

As for that Fractal Burnt pen: I know of only one......Mine, which I burnt last year for MAPG 2016. It was one of the winning pens there.

It scared me too, until I watched Charlie do his demo last month... I'm not inclined to invest in a rig at the moment, but I am much less afraid of it than I was.

Charlie made it look easy, and he never let us forget the safety aspects either.

Thanks Michael! I did a fractal burning demo at Woodcraft Saturday. Had a good crowd......guess they had a burning desire to see what this was all about:biggrin:
