wood and alumilite

as you can see in my pic that my first attempt didn't work out so well. that being said here are a few factors that I am trying to figure out that may have played out the day of casting. the shop was only 56 degrees the day of casting it. I have read somewhere it need to be at least 70 degrees out side is this true? also if you see in the pic around the wood the alumilite didn't fuse as it should have almost looks like there was air being pulled from the wood. should I have stabilized the wood first?

was the wood super dry? if not alumalite hates water. it will bubble up like that. most people bake their wood in the oven to get moisture content as near 0% as possible. then they cast right away or seal in a ziploc bag.

Looks like too much moisture in the wood. You either need to nuke the wood first or even better stabilize it to remove all moisture from the wood.
Alumilite will take this foamy/hazy appearance in the presence of water.
