Last night at our monthly woodturning club meeting, I was the lucky winner of the "Win One — Bring One" drawing. This is where someone turns something for the drawing and then the winner has to bring something they turned next month. While we have many talented turners, not many folks participate. Perhaps they feel their work is not up to par or don't want to be pressured to turn a piece. Too bad as this is a lot of fun. I enjoy having a piece from other turners.
I had been hoping to win a piece turned by this gentleman for a good while. He turns excellent bowls and platters. He is one of our senior turners and a kind, generous guy. It is a pleasure to call him a friend.
This piece is listed as a "Footed Bowl", is turned from Ambrosia Maple, and has a TY Oil and Carnuba Wax Finish. 5.5"diameter and 7" tall and is a limb or log piece as it has the pith almost dead center.
