Did you check the Search function? Everything you want to know about the formation is there. Did you check the Library? Everything you wanted to know about the formation of everything else is there.
Why not just use corrugated sign board and a hot glue gun? Works all the time, cheap and easy.

I understand the wanting to do it yourself thing and the cheap thing. I'm of the opinion that casting with pressure works better. My pressure pot is a piece of 1 1/4 metal pipe with a cap and a few fittings that end in an air coupler that hooks to my compressor. For molds I either use cutting boards cut to size and tape to hold them together or plastic pipe. Pipe uses less resin. For coloring, Testors model paint.
