Casting around wood

I am looking at casting wood. I am not making pen blanks but something larger. Will polyester resin adhere to the wood or should I go with alumilite or epoxy resin instead?

I'm not an expert on this by any means, but I think Alumilite is generally preferred for this type of casting - for one thing, I believe it has less of a tendency to shrink as it cures, so the voids in the wood may stay filled better with Alumilite.
