Okay, if this has already been asked I apologize...but can you use Alumilite dyes in PR? Also, will acrylic paint (kind you get from say Hobby Lobby or Michael's) work in PR?
Thanks for putting up with the beginner :)

alumilite dyes, Yes. a SMALL amount goes a long way. Say for 9oz of PR I'll use 1 drop or less of dye. It's super concentrated and if you use too much the resin won't cure properly.

Acrylic paint, I wouldn't think so. Being water based it shouldn't work with PR. Oil based paints do work however.

I found out the hard way that blue Alumilite dye will give you a purple blank. They look nice but not when you're trying to make a deep blue blank.

The rest of the colors I've tried have worked well.

When I first started casting blanks I read from a very knowledgable person about using alumilite dyes in pr.

Dip a toothpick into the dye. Wipe off all the dye from said toothpick and use toothpick to stir pr.

You will know if you use too much. The pr will take forever to cure...
