For 7mm tunes, what is the best fitting drill bit to reduce tolerance but not too small?

Are you having fit issues? I've always used a 7 mm drill bit and with glue (epoxy rarely use CA) the tube fits just fine.

If you have a lot of slop do you maybe have some sort of issue like a loose chuck or bent drill bit and its making bigger holes?

My rule of thumb is to drill 0.010" larger than the tube.
A pair of digital calipers and a large box of drill bits is a must. A 115 piece set with fractional, letter and number bits works for me.

Also use a centering bit or skew to give a centered divot for the drill bit......drill on the lathe.
