I have been using a 15/32 bit as recommended by the instructions on the artisan Jr Gents and barons.
The hole seems too large. Comparing other smaller sizes, the difference between the bit size and the tube size seems to leave about .003 to .005 on each side for the glue. On this one the glue spacing is .0079. I know there is some runout on my lathe and that just adds to this and the tube often seems to be set to one side or the other. It is very noticeable and I'm sure it has an effect on the glue joint.
An 11.8mm bit seems to be closer to the proper size. It converts to .4645" which would leave a glue thickness of .00525" . I know we are talking small differences here but to me it makes a big difference.
Anyone here use this size?

Measure the actual tube your using and then choose a drill bit. Dont let the kit instructions pick one for you. A 29/64th is .4531. If you have wobble it may be the one you want.

My notes for the Baron, say:
Cap: Acrylic 11.7mm Wood 29/64"
Nib: Acrylic 25/64" Wood "W"

Also; I paint the inside of the tube on all acrylic blanks.

You can get odd-sized drill bits at MSC
