I've got some nice cherry burl in my shed for a while now , and some nice spalted figured maple , the cherry burl was purpose cut , it was a huge burl , I've got it cut in about 8 pieces just so I could handle it . The maple was a happen stance find , grabbed it when we were splitting firewood . I got the last few dried sliced pieces of both stabilized the other day , so I figured I'd get more sliced up and let it sit for a while and dry more so when needed it'll be ready to stabilize . I will get approx 25 blanks out of each , I cut them a tad over 1" square so if they move or check a bit I can clean them up . I'll cut them to length when they are ready for stabilizing .

Here's some pics of the cherry burl

Maple doesn't look like much until you slice it open

Thanks fellas . I was lucky noticing the maple when we were splitting the wood , I'll make it a point to really watch now . Here's a few pens from that same piece of wood that's been stabilized , turned , and finished
