I have made 2 sharpies, and a 1/2x20 tap and a 7/16 drill worked fine.

+1

Tom

I hate doing this but....... +2

Shoot George, you should be +0 or +0.5 or something... I tried the 1/2" tap based on your suggestion!

Tom

No, I was referring to the little "+1" . Usually I will write half a page but I was in a hurry yesterday.

Funny thing, when we first started doing these things a couple years ago there was big flap about using the 1/2x20 tap and how lax we were with our quality for using them and producing such poor fitting threads. Now it's pretty well accepted that they do indeed work well and we didn't have to spend a fortune on yet another special tap. :)

I forgot to mention this, but I also run a 1/2x20 die over the threads on the sharpie. Might not help but it takes seconds so why not?
