Well finally got my homebrew rotary laser running.

2.5w laser
2x NEMA 17
Eleksmaker MANA SE
Laser GRBL software

Very happy with the results just need to make a better casing as this one resonates to the fan:mad:

I like your set up. I am trying my hand at something similar (a sort of eggbot only with a spindle.) It would be sort of like a cnc-pen wizard.

Is your stuff all laser or have you fooled around with any spindles?

Hi Bruce,
I do have something in the pipeline in this direction.

I really like that design Andrew. Is it your own design? I like the choice of using linear rails. You should sell them as kits or complete machines
I guess the little tailstock is spring loaded?

Having the Z axis at an angle is cool too. Compact but out of the way at the same time. :)

Really cool !! Looking forward to seeing the completed project.
I might even have to wangle a factory visit to Ratingen and steal it from you!!

Thanks Skip,
The only spring loading is my thumb when I press the tailstock in position and tighten the screws, but this should be more than enough.

Here`s a pic of the spindle, made from a brushless motor.

Let me know if you come over to Ratingen so that I can secure my shop

Bruce,
At the moment I am not so sure which software to use other than it will run GRBL, and probablly as hardware Ramps 1.4.

The software and computer side I usually get from my son. Its the best when you have a tame CNC machinist:wink:

And the first order is engraved and ready to send.

26 Polaris with Oak. Engraved with names and Company Logo.

I was surprised how easy it was using Laser GRBL. a couple of tests on dowel and then go. About 45 min for all including setting up.

I think my NEJE is going to retire
