my local Woodcraft store has a "sharpening for turners" class that I took and found to be very helpful. They used the wolverine system in class and it's what I have now. Might want to check it out if you have a store near you...

Ron, One important thing to remember. The tool's own weight does all the work! You just guide it. Don't lean on it at all.......[:)]

You can make your own wolverine-type jig - there's some great units posted up on here.. If nothing else, it could at least tell you if the wolverine type jig is what you want. And take up a few hours' construction time.

To borrow from another post, here are some commercially availible systems:
Wolverine: http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/cgi-bin/shopper?search=action&keywords=oneway-wolverine

Woodcut Tru-Grind: http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/cgi-bin/shopper?search=action&keywords=woodcut-tru-grind

Kelton: http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/cgi-bin/shopper?search=action&keywords=kelton-sharpening

Penn State clone: http://www.pennstateind.com/store/lcgrind4.html

The tru-grind is highly acclaimed for sharpening gouges

Grow your own, the videos will help you with any of these jigs also..
