I recently tried to stabalize some spalted sycamore. it seemed to go well.. I used a mason jar and a food saver. It bubbled a fizzed like it was supposed to, i think. Now it has been several months and the wood still smells like the minwax fast dry poly and when i turn it I get wood dust not shavings. It is also kind of brittle. Is that how it is supposed to be or did i do something wrong.

Whenever I use poly for stabelizing I thin it down some, and yes it still smelled like the poly when I turned.

Did you first turn the item to be stablized to round and have the hole already drilled? I usually do those 2 steps prior to stablizing.
