Default Nitrile Gloves =/ Latex Gloves

Searching the forums, I found a post on this from 8 years ago, but I learned the hard way. I usually buy powdered latex gloves from my local Ace Hardware, but when in Harbor Freight recently I was enticed by the box of 100 blue 5 mil Nitrile gloves for $ 5.00.

DO NOT USE THEM WITH CA!!!

That's all I'm gonna say.

Gary

I don't use gloves for CA. Just wipe my fingers with a paper towel and acetone. I keep a supply of HF nitrile gloves. I get them when on sale in one of their sale flyers.

I use nitrile gloves all the time to apply CA finish. No issues.

I found the thin CA to eat right through them.

Oil damages latex. Acetone damages nitrile. Therefore, when working with oil (such as changing the oil in my car), I wear nitrile gloves. When working with acetone (doing CA finishes), I wear latex gloves.

I hope that helps,
Eric

I have found both the burn, but only after accelerator has been applied. I have always had plenty of time to get the gloves off. I am NOT recommending this. I am just relating my experience.

I'm with Eric for the same reasons.

I miss the old thin silicone rubber like gloves that stretched. Been years since I have seen them but I still miss them. I don't like nitrile or latex, not stretchy enough.

I have never had that problem. My brand of gloves is Members Mark from Sam's. Perhaps the HF brand is faulty.

I routinely use the ones from Samís Club, also, with no issues.
