I decided...(.ok, ok...my wife let me..) to spend a few bob of loads of overtime I've been doing lately. I fitted a 3 axis DRO to my mill with glass scales.
Works a treat and solves the 'backlash' issues on a machine.
The Z axis probably won't get much use as the crank is on top of the column.
I have actually got a bevelled gear set so one day I can do an 'under table' mod. It already has readout on the quill. Now just to find some time to use it..

Also treated my lathe to coil spring covers on the leadscrew.

Fun little projects.
