For those of you that bought and have used the low power laser diode engravers (especially the 1 to 2.5 watt units) I have a question. When used on wood, does it burn a pattern only as deep as a pyrography pen does or does it engrave a groove that could be filled by something such as acrylic paint or stone dust.
It doesn't matter if you use it on pens or flat wood, I imagine the effect would be the same (based on the wood species).

Thanks in advance foe your answers.

I have the 1 watt unit and yes, the engraving can be filled. Best filler I have found is color fill from laserbits.com

Do you have a link to a specific laser that your referring to? I'm possibly interested in one of these low power engravers.

Thanks Michael! How big of an area can the laser travel with this model? I didn't see it on the link.

The max area is 500 x 500 pixels--enough for pens or a modest amount of text on a wooden pen box. With a little practice and care, one can line up to do multiple engravings.
