If you can afford it -- -the 750 will do larger bits with a few more options.

If you have a Tormek, you might want to look at the sharpening jig sold for that unit. I hear good things about precision and quality of sharpening it provides (high cost unit but high precision I am told).

What type are you sharpening, brad point or standard tip, HSS or carbide? That will tell you if you can even use a Drill Doctor, or not. I have always liked the 750, because of its capacity.

I have the 500, but if I was buying today, I'd get the 750. We give away a 750 every year during the Bash, and it always seems to be enjoyed.

I have the 750. Takes a little getting used to. But once you do it is great. There are some types of bits it will not do. They are listed on the drill doctor web sight. Nice web sight. I'm
