I have to core some of my wood for several different things make .
Two issues is HP and grip .

Allot of woods wants to spin in the chuck when drilling or coring .
I am punching a 5/8 coring bit through 13 inches of purple heart in less then a minute .

This is what I came up with .

That is impressive!
I inadvertently clicked on that image and it took me to your photobucket.
Looks like a bit of fun in the other photos of that rig ;)

Thanks
I try to have fun regardless of what I am making.
Some of the lathes I own are very easy to modify .

I have been doing good or allot better my friend , I have gone through 15 to 20 operations in the last 4 to 5 years. I can see now ..
how is your wife and kids .?
How is your cue making coming along ?

They made MJ legal where I live, I switch all of my taig lathes to making MJ pipes now.

My health was so bad that I hadn't been in the big shop for six years .

Wow, that's awful, but great to hear things are getting better. The wife is doing fine, kids are sprouting like fricking weeds, one is 5 and the other turning 2 next month. Cue making has been on the back burner, still slowly progressing, but the 2nd kid slowed it down drastically. I am however, fixing to buy another cue lathe. Gonna piece this one together myself, using some stuff from Todd, but in the end its gonna be a 2 axis cnc "similar" to what he offers but I'm gonna construct mine a little different.

And I still got the pipe you made me too...........

I like Todd and have bought a couple lathes from him now.
I don't like the rack and pinion .
If you at going to make a Taig based CNC put acme screws to drive your X axis .

I bought a little 7x10 central metal lathe here at a 2nd hand store closing down ..

75.00 bucks ......
