Beall Collet Chuck

I just noticed that the picture of the Beall chuck looks different than mine.

I checked the Beall web site and a displayed picture suggests there are three different body shapes......presumably for the different sized lathe spindles. Anyone know if that assumption is correct?


Guess I should've stated that I have a 1" x 8 tpi chuck.

Looks just like mine. 11/4-8tpi.

You are correct Randy. As the lathe nose gets larger so much the base of the collet chuck, but the business end must stay the same size to accommodate the collets. Hence, the different shapes for the ranges of nose size.

I have two... one for my Delta Midi that is a smaller straight cylinder and one for my PM 3520B that looks just like the one you reference.

Billy: The one you have on your Delta sounds likle what I have on my JET mini.

The one I have for my Jet Mini is straight and it also fits my full size Grizz lathe.

Good morning, I'm very new to turning -- So what is a Beall chuck and what will it do for me as a pen turner? Is this equipment necessary?
