Hi Gang! I'm considering purchasing a wood burning unit and small power carver. I've been looking at the Razortip wood burning set and the Master Carver Micro Pro Champion Set... Both have very strong reviews but it's always nice to hear what other carvers/woodburners use and their comments. Please advise... All comments welcome! Safe turning to you all!

I have the Optima 1 Dual woodburner (bought it from Greg Dorrance)

It works well for my needs -- which are simple, I use it for is to sign and embellish turnings.

I haven't done any power carving -- but I do have one of the dental lab air turbines, which I intend to use for piercing thin-walled turnings. (And a Dremel for rough work.)

I have an Excalibur which also works good for my needs. I also have a power crafter which
runs on air at 500,000 rpm but its heavy. I did have a turbocarver until it got stolen of the two I recommend the turbo carver. It's light, fast, and lube free. I intend to get another one before winter.
