I've used this a dozen times since it was finally finished so it is now about time I made it better looking with some paint and stain.
I sized the table so that a full 4" board at 45 degree angle is still against the front 4" of the disc and the miter gauge is fully in the track.
The suction is so good it held the top on without the clamps. Used an old 2" floor attachment, turned an adapter out of PVC and used a 45 ell from the shop vac set. The white wire cage is a piece of wire shelving.

Is that mdf you made the sanding disc out of?

How easy is it to change to a new sheet of sand paper?

Looks nice and I'm thinking that should be on my todo list.

I have the same lathe as well. I use it for drilling and sanding and teaching others on.

1/2" baltic birch for the box and a melamine shelf section for the top and disc face.
I have not yet changed a disk but it should not be an issue with the melamine surface it is stuck to.
