Finished a pen with tru-oil to bring out grain, after I got a good sheen I decided to put CA over it to make it more durable. CA pitted and made scales. Ended up sanding off 20 coats of CA (I didn't notice until turned off lathe) and started over. Had to partially repeat process to get remaining Tru oil out of blank. Just finished pen with CA and came out really nice. I would have tossed the blank but it was a homemade blank made from a piece of spalted cherry laurel that I cut from the yard. Thanks to DRStrangeFart for sending the information on one piece pens, this is a one piece cigar.
