I've used it on quite a few knife handles. It holds up really well. I'm planning on making a few pens sunday and using it.

Yup, I use a couple of coats of Birchwood Casey sanding sealer, then three or four coats of Tru-Oil on all my walnut gun-themed pens. Fairly quick to apply, and looks good. After 24 hour dry time, I polish with 0000 and buff them on the Carnuaba wheel.

Regards,
Michael

Yes. It works. I put several coats on a burl cork blank that I experimented with. Will see if I have a photo to post. Going to try it with CA on burl cork.

As with gun use, it is a soft oil finish that needs perodic maintenance. I use it with walnut especially, and advise owners to keep the pen waxed, and clean it as needed the same as a hard used wood gun stock. Most hard use stocks here are laminates or composites with epoxy finishes.

Heavy use, it is not as durable as several other finishes.
