Hey all,

So I am attempting to make a pen for my boss who has a boat. Doing the Nautical Pen from PSI (even though I hate PSI) and I purchased some Teak Burl blanks. It's a very light colored teak and not at all like you would see on a boat (that warm, dark, reddish teak color). The blanks are dry but not stabilized, so I know they would soak up color or can be stained. What is the best idea for darkening the wood to more of a "boat teak" color without ruining the look of the burl....and still be able to put a CA coat over it? I am under the impression that anything oil based will not work well trying to apply CA over it. Suggestions please? Thanks all.

Most oils do work with CA. Classic is boiled linseed oil, but often use walnut oil.

Good not to have a surface and wood slobbering with oil though. Just a drop or two Will do it.

Have not used teak for a pen for a long time, but do not remember any issues with a CA finish.
