Really never see any pens turned from pine.
I have some really small knotted pine and wondered what finish to use
I done a few with CA but just wondered if the pine pitch would react with it.
Thanks

I turn pens out of pine. I try to find old growth that has lots of growth rings. If you hear of anyone tearing down an old building, they will probably give you more wood than you will ever need.

Also the pine or redwood with small knots make great pens.

If those blanks have come from me, the wood is very dry and the resin residue is very small, wiping the wood with acetone would be the safest way to make sure and resin residue is removed the CA is suitable as a finish, no problem...!

Generally, pine blanks regardless from where they come from may have resin residue, some species are worse than others...!
