What effect would lasser engraving have on the edges of the wording/design - if any, on CA finished pens? I've seen that burnished look along the edges of the engraving, and the small shinny glare of heated lacquer on other projects. Am wondering if ths would be the same, but, permanent on light colored Honey Locust that was CA'd, or will it destroy the surface finish. I know the intensity of the laser would definitely have to be tinkered with, but would the burnished look be on top of, or then under the CA on the wood. Thanks, Bob

The laser burns through the CA so you end up with a set of inset letters (or what ever) through the CA and down into the wood. If you want to have a smooth finish with the engraving being under the finish then engrave, fill the letters with colorant and CA then finish the pen like normal.

I usualy take it to laser engraver before final buffing with tripoli-w.d.
I hardly see any damage on the CA after laser, but are not satisfied with the outcome in buffed surface.
