With the success of my pen dipping/squeegee method I need a way to do my bottle stoppers.

So I went with centrifugal force! Worked great!

Just used a water bottle with the bottom cut off to catch the splatter.

Can't wait to try this!!! Bottle stoppers sell very well for me, but I have gone almost exclusively with home-cast PR because I find it almost imposible to do a CA finish on a stopper. I've tried dipping before and like the results except for the inevitable runs caused by too much liquid left on the blank. This just might do the trick.

Are you just covering the stopper in CA or whatever finish putting bottle over it and cranking the speed up so exess all flies off?

OK. Here is a little more detail.

I used same dipping solution I used for the pen (via Pen State).

With the stopper mounted on a dowel and dunk the entire stopper into the can of dipping lacquer. I let the bulk of the solution drip off back into the can. Then I mount in on my lathe with a cut open water bottle around it (as pictured) and start the lathe. The centrifugal force removes all the excess lacquer, the bottle keeps the splatter contained. I the let it dry over night.
