Back in one of the "buffing" threads you mentioned you made a home made buff out of denim.
Do you have a picture if it somewhere.
I think i can figure it out from there.
I have a lot of scraps that aren't long enough for pens.
I wondered how thick they were and how much stitching to stop them from flopping all around.

It looks just like the Bealle buffing wheel, with a stack of denim dics held together between 2 fender washers with a bolt and a nut. I used a 3/8" bolt to match the thread in the Bealle holder.

Sorry, no photo on file and I am not at home so I can't take one.

I ahve seen some buffs that were stitched near the outside of the fabric.
