I have an anodising tutorial in the IAP library also, which contains colour charts and some other info which may be worth a read of

Brad, thanks for the videos! I have a couple aluminum pens that need to be anodized so I can't wait until I have time tomorrow to finish watching and hopefully get the things together that I need to get started.

Many Thanks

Hello Brad,
I've just watched your anodising videos. Absolutely great both from the point of view of the knowledge you have passed on to all of us and your very professional presentation style. I congratulate you!

In your first video you mentioned chromed parts on one of your pens – you surely don't chrome plate in your garage. The thought took me back to my apprenticeship when I spent just 2 weeks on the Chrome Vats. The old chap who took me under his wing had clothes absolutely peppered with holes.

"It's the chromic acid" he said knowingly.

Well I got out of that department with my nice white overall coat still pristine and I congratulated myself on avoiding splashes.
Two weeks later I put my hand straight through the pocket on this same coat and in another two weeks I looked just like my mentor.

Kind regards
John

Hi John
Great stuff chromic isnt it ;) brush plating is fine as your not exposed as you are with the vats unless you splash it all over yourself. im in the middle of designing a 150cm fume extraction hood which will house my anodising tanks, and chrome vat. I wont be having those corrosive fumes wafting around my shop thank you very much!

i must admit... i do have lots of jeans where mysterious holes in the fabric seem to appear overnight!
