PEN 1

Kit used: Wall Street II
Process Used Burls are amazing but in my opinion, they sometimes need a little help in contrast and texture. I used 2 pieces of Padauck at a 45degree angle and segmented both pieces with aluminum accents to provide an effective contrast and clean line.

Pen 4

Kit used: Berea Cigar Satin Black
Process Used The soft brown tone of the riftsawn white oak complements the double celtic knot and satin black plating. The double knot and accent rings in the upper barrel comprise black veneer sandwiched between golden yellow veneer. I made the double knot by spacing the "rope" one saw kerf width between segments at 45° angle. A light wipe of walnut oil highlighted and enriched the colors before applying a CA finish.

Pen 5

Kit used: Triton Ballpoint
Process Used This contest required an non modified ball point pen kit. I selected a Triton Ballpoint. The blank is an original Parker Pen Company blue Crushed Velvet blank. The challenge was that the blanks are 3/4" x 5/8" which doesn't leave much room for error when drilling. The blank was reverse painted bright silver to increase the contrasts in the blank. The blanks were turned, sanded, micro meshed and buffed with goal of an exceptional fit and finish.

But, but... how will I know which one to vote for? I always pick the one with the prettiest bar color...

I think I lost a few hairs over worrying about how to set up these poll thingys...

Congrats to all of the entrants. It was a hard choice and I didn't look beforehand, I am just glad the ones I picked in the preliminary round made it to this one (yeah, I know, that's being lazy for not wanting to re-evaluate).

Agreed! All of these folks took what was supposed to be a simple ball point kit and covered them with some amazing craftsmanship.

So far we've had 104 people vote. Considering that we have over 19,000 IAP members, there are a "few folks" that are missing out on the opportunity to see and vote on some really terrific works of art by some very talented IAP members.

C'mon, you can do it, only takes a minute~

Good luck to all of our entrants!

Coming down the home stretch

Don't forget to VOTE everyone. Show the folks who put a lot of
effort into their entries how much you appreciate them.
