Below are the entries for the Pen Marketing Photo Contest. For information on the contest, check this thread. These are photos to be used to sell or market your pens to customers.

We have a FANTASTIC batch of photos this year. I don't envy all of you reading this, as you're going to have a VERY hard time finding JUST ONE photo to vote for. Next year I'm going to suggest we have a prize for everyone who enters with their A-Game like folks did this year!!

Vote for the photo you think would do well in selling or marketing a person's pen or pens.

One vote per person (even you folks from Chicago and Florida!!!), so take your time and look over all the photos before you decide, Voting will close on February 28th, so don't wait to long!!!

And thanks and good luck to all our contestants!!!!

Great photos everyone:highfive:.Nice work.

There are 2 or 3 different members with multiple entries to vote for in this one.

Love all of them. I do feel though that when a person has multiple entries of the same pen or pens that they really split their votes. Something to think about in the future, not sure how you would get around the problem. But all in all a fantastic contest. Thanks to all those who do the bash!!!

I didn't enter this one, but I think something caused the two pictures allowed per entry to split into two entries. Looks like it happened in the other two photo contests, too.

Perhaps we should hold our votes until this gets solved.

Todd. . . help! :)

checked this upon entering and this was the response I received from Toddlajoie :
"You can enter 2 photos, They can be similar or completely different, and they will be judged individually. The poll thread will be in random order, so it is unlikely that your 2 photos will be together in the poll. "

No longer confused....
...

So, for the sake of clarity I am amending the rules to specifically exclude names/logos/etc from the elements in the photos also.

While (obviously) I am not that adept at seeing all the different ways that these rules can be interpreted, I hope I've made the intent of these rules is understood. Please don't hesitate to post questions here or ask me by PM.

Well....

To be honest there was some very unclear parts to this contest. I brought up some questions in another thread http://www.penturners.org/forum/f243/2014-pen-marketing-photo-contest-118863/ Some of them went unaddressed, some were answered (see quoted text above)

Overall I think to ensure more drama does not inflame the bash we should take this to PM, as we were ask to do.

You are right Ed,I should have sent a PM.

Todd,I am sorry for not PMing you about it.I didnot read the instructions very well.I just looked at the photos and commented in public.I was not trying to be a downer in any of tour contests.

Sincerely, Dale

I should have read the instructions before opening my yap. Sorry.

I went back and re-read them. Didn't see anything about the two photographs allowed on the entry form as being judged separately (i.e., as two separate entries).

Now I'm totally confused.

Concerning Multiple similar entries by the same person.

In past years, the photo contests were judged by a small panel of volunteer members of the IAP community. Under that system, allowances could be made for people who submitted 2 very similar entries and people who submitted 2 very different entries. Based on feedback last year, all contests were converted over to open polling by the entire IAP community. I had not forseen the effect this would have on these 2 different types of entries. I understand that some thought that their 2 photos would be judged together while others thought the opposite. So the issue becomes how we can resolve these differences in a manner that is fair for ALL contestants.

I would like to keep the polls & voting set up as they are. Eliminating or combining entries at this point would likely require us to cancel the current poll and re-create it. I realize that people who submitted very similar photos have the possibility that votes they would have gotten would be split between the 2 entries, but combining their votes would not be fair to the people who submitted only one photo. At the same time, combining the votes for those who submitted 2 very different photos would not be fair to ANYONE else in the contest.

The best possible solution to this that I can come up with is this: In the end, I will analyze the voting, and if in the situations where someone entered 2 very similar entries, the combined votes would have brought them into range of the top 3 spots, Jeff has offered to look in the bottom of the prize vault for any goodies that may have fallen through the cracks, and I will take whatever he may be able to spare and add a few things I have available, and I will put together a consolation prize for those member(s) that will be in the ballpark range of the 3rd place prize.

I hope this is satisfactory to those members affected by this, and I appreciate your understanding as this contest adjusts to the intricacies of the new voting style. I will be sure to be more clear on these points in the future.

I didn't enter a pen in this, so I have no dog in the hunt, so to speak. It seems to me that having two entries, no matter how similar is irrelevant for this particular contest. This contest is judging which photo is the best at selling the underlying pen. So we are voting on the picture, not the pen. If there are two pictures of the same pen, it shouldn't matter...it wouldn't split the votes for that pen, because we aren't voting by pen. Just my 2 cents.

Still plenty of voting time left!!!!

Choices may be hard, but nothing worthwhile in life is easy!!!!

Don't miss your chance to do your IAP Civic Duty,

  • No Voter Identification requirements!!!
  • No National Citizenship requirements (just IAP Citizenship, which is free to all, but does NOT offer healthcare!!!)!!!
  • No walking past Poll Sign holders on your way to the voting booth!!!
  • No kids bake sale to tempt you on the way out!!!!
  • Just fun and frivolity and supporting (one of ) your fellow penturners (while kicking 21 others at the same time :frown:)
It's pretty easy, just pick a number between 1 and 22, look and make sure that's the photo you like best, if it is not , repeat the process until it is, find the radio button with that number in it's text and click away, be sure to click the "Vote Now" button when you've made your selection, then go out and reward yourself with a nice Hot Chocolate, knowing you made someone feel special and you like them, you really, really like them!!!!

Be sure to leave a note to prove you are a contributing IAP Voting Member and support all those who braved the potential public stigma of having entered this contest!!!

The competition behind the scenes is very exciting on this one, We've got 172 votes cast so far, but I know there are still more out there. Don't bother with those Accademy Award Ballots, there is so much less riding on the outcome of that, and nobody is really going to care about their results in the end.

Get those votes in and show your support for the fantastic work that people chose to put out there for you!!!

So much "pen porn" and all in one thread. My eyes are ablaze and my mind is too confused to pick out a winner. All the entries make it a "hard" job to choose.

Time is drawing down, and I know from the counts in some of the other contest threads, that there are 40 or 50 members who have proven their ability to click a poll radio button, who really need to show that that was not a freak mouse accident and they really do know how to vote!!!
