Those of you who make cartridge pens know that the venerable 30-06 - still a very popular hunting cartridge after over 110 years - is about the most popular brass used in cartridge pens. Our kits include a Euro bottom tube which is just the right length for use in these kits. The slimline top tube lets you pick your top material and you end up with a pen that is a real nice length. We now have these in 24K gold but may soon also have Chrome.

We leave out the centerband and nose cone because most maker don't want them, omitting the centerband altogether and using either a real bullet or a copper nose cone.

We are going to lower our price on these so they are well below the price of a slimline kit and we expect to be adding Chrome to the lineup in the near future.

If you enjoy making cartridge pens, this set might be just what the doctor ordered for you. If you have other ideas for special purpose parts kits I'd love to hear about them...feel free to post.

so is it just a spent casing with the transmission, and a clip assembly?

Can one buy the bullet ends from anywhere?
Any place that handles reloading components will probably have them. Some sporting goods stores might carry a few and .30 cal would be popular. As popular as hunting and reloading is in Canada I'd almost think you could find what you need locally in a number of calibers that will work for pens. .270 Winchester and .280 Remington are both essentially necked down 30-06 brass as is the 25-06 Remington and several others, so they could use the same length tubes. The same tubes would very likely work for some of the 30 cal magnums as well.

It is a spent casing for the lower barrel, with a transmission. The upper barrel can be about anything you might use in a slimline pen with a slimline clip and cap... antler is popular and some times the maker reverses another casing (7.62mm/.308 cal) for the upper barrel.
