This is one of the items I just obtained from exotics on my last order.
Exotic Blanks :: Pen Kits :: Pen Kits (By Kit Name) :: Zodiac Pen Kits

I decided to push some limits and see exactly what I could pull off. I listed the camera settings I used F-stop and shutter speeds, all images are shot at ISO 100 hand holding (no tripod)

I am really loving these bands. Also everything is screw in and easy to work with, a very good upgrade.

Ed were these shot in a tent???
Lin.

Yes.

The F/40 shots were direct light @ full power. Some of the others were bounce, I think most of these were direct light but not so much full power. The light is a photogenic 500ws monolight hovering inches above the tent.

Photogenic Professional Lighting Equipment - PL1250

These were also shot in my kitchen on the island and not in the photo room.

Very, very nice shots. I was going to guess F-22. You no not mention it but it looks like a Soft box and/or Reflector was used (soft shadows).
Nice work!

I use a light tent.

The ceiling makes a wonderful reflector in the room, as does the wall color and carpet color.

Also forgot to mention the background is legal sized printer paper.

I am not trying to compete with Ed's photographic skills!!!

But I found his question interesting, so I did a little additional disassembly.
Came as a surprise, but a pleasant one!!

SWEET!

So next questions begs: is this compatible with the euro/slimline stylus replacements? :) I am betting yes they are. Also what is the screw thread size?

Light bouncing off the cat makes a big difference!

See the cat think's she's the subject of the photo's.

GREAT CAMERA WORK.

I am amazed at some of the work put into taking pictures. Way over my head.

You should see/hear some of the prep work that goes into things, not just shots but pens as well and other things.

I think Ed uses pen making as an excuse to take pictures.

Not to far from the truth this one is. It's about eye appeal, form, function and detail.

Oh and wait till you see what is in store next :)

Ed,

I keep looking at your photographic work and wondering, what camera do you use...?? I'm certain that you have answered that question before, somewhere, you had too for sure but, I missed it, could you point me out to where that info is, please

I also know that, it takes a lot more than a good camera to take exceptional close up pics, from lighting to lens to this to that and dozens of other things.

I do not like photography like you and many other here do, is very technical and I never had any interest in that technical bla, bla..., I do however love to take pics, as everyone is aware, I take hundreds of them each month but, I like the point and shoot type fotografy, too much preps and it annoys me so, I can only admire your work, as one the best I've seen so far, in this close ups category the one I really admire.

The details that are normally not visible to the naked eye or pretty damn hard to see for someone with poor vision, are a completely different world when shown with such clarity and detail, sometimes quite overwhelming, particularly if the images are from something you created/done and the end result in not as perfect as you may thought.

However, that turns into a great helping tool, by showing the areas to improve on so, a positive step.

Someone mention that you probably make pens for an excuse to use your photographic equipment and skills, from where I seat, if that is close to be the case, I see nothing wrong with it, by the contrary, you prove how important those selling they pens/products electronically is, to have the best quality pics one can have, decisions are affected greatly but that detail, and if the quality is high, the decision to want to buy, is done at that stage.

Anyway, we all at least have a goal when it come to pictures, and that is to make them as good as yours and a couple of other IAP members that know their stuff, also...!

Great work..!

Cheers
George
